The Departed

Why: It was the only movie playing at the time we arrived.

With the heavy hitters in this movie you knew it was going to be good: Jack Nicholson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Walhberg, Martin Sheen, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, etc. It was direct by Martin Scorsese too - a big guy in the movie business. It won 4 Oscars! So in my opinion it was a good movie but it comes with a huge asterisk! I have never in my life seen such a violent movie. The story was super-great! Tons of suspense and twists and turns but I literally lost count of how many times I saw someone get shot in the head. It wasn't a bang, bang your dead scene either. It was a shot of the bullet entering the head and blood squirting everywhere. If you like good guys versus bad guys with uncertainty of who the mole is this is the movie for you... assuming you have the stomach for the gruesome stuff and horrific bad language. I don't know how this one will ever make it to a TV without re-doing the whole movie.
