Facing the Giants

Who: Rochelle & Bob and friends
What: Facing the Giants
Where: stinky AMC Pleasure Island
Why: It was a group outing and it came recommended

Are you ready for some football? This is a great movie because it has something that appeals to men and women. It is the story of a coach and a small football team as they go up against a superior team. It shows how the coach motivates the players to do something bigger than themselves--to pull together and rely on a higher power to win the game. The whole time the coach is trying to do the right thing with his team he and his wife are struggling with infertility, finances, and his desire to be a good provider. This is a total tear-jerker but you still feel really good when the movie is over. It isn't an Oscar winning actor performance but the screenplay is award worthy. You don't see enough of these good-natured films in the theaters. Now available on DVD or at Blockbuster. Two Thumbs up!

You have NO IDEA how much I love this movie. First of all, football... are you kidding me? Sports movie (football & golf especially) are just great makings for a movie. The cast is the entire congregation, friends and family of a church, the commentary and behind the scenes of how it came together and got into theaters is soooo worth the time to watch. God is amazing!!

Then there's the whole infertility issue and of course that is close to my heart. When she finally gets to the point and tells God that she will love him ANYWAY, wether or not they have a biological baby, wowie zowie. Jerks my heart out!

I watch this over and over and over and over and over and over and over! Oh and I also take the life lesson (that I've shared before on my blog) about the farmer in the field. Both pray for rain and then one actually goes out to prepare his field, the other doesn't. The one who prepares his field KNOWS by FAITH that God will answer his prayer and he's getting ready! Just like we are with OUR baby we're waiting on through adoption.

Oh how I love this movie!! See it, see it, see it, see it!!!

Wow - my first spam comment. Yay!

Why have I never heard of this movie? Is this based on a true story of some kind? When was this in theaters?

I'm always up for a football movie!
